code of conduct

report an incident

This is a Safe Space

We have ZERO TOLERANCE for harassment, discrimination, micro-aggressions, intimidation, threats, and violence.

At Rare Founders, we are committed to providing a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, or religion.

This code of conduct outlines our expectations for participant behavior as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior.

I WILL

  • Treat everyone with respect, acknowledging their Diversity Characteristics* without prejudice.

  • Be mindful of how words and actions might affect others, and strive to minimize harm and misunderstandings.

  • Address people as they prefer to be called, using the names, pronouns, and titles they specify.

  • Encourage others to express their experiences and viewpoints and listen actively and openly when they do.

  • Speak out against exclusionary behaviors witnessed, advocating for inclusivity and fairness in every setting.

  • Share perspectives respectfully, even if different from others.

  • Cite and share the originators of quotes and ideas.

  • Use social media responsibly and with professionalism.

  • Make presentations or conversations accessible by spelling out acronyms and avoiding coded jargon.

  • Use language that acknowledges the person first, rather than their condition or situation, respecting individual dignity.

I WILL NOT

  • Intimidating, stalking, harassing, discriminating against, or abusing anyone based on any aspect of their identity or Diversity Characteristic*.

  • Disrupting talks, presentations, events, or activities (e.g., shouting, using phones inappropriately, or causing distractions).

  • Sharing misleading, fraudulent, or deceptive content.

  • Sharing illegal content or activities, creating spam, or sharing content that is hateful, highly offensive, or designed to insult, profane, or dehumanize anyone based on their Diversity Characteristics*.

  • Bullying anyone or attempting to impose views on others, including making threats, mocking, or using derogatory language.

  • Making suggestions or directives about how others should vote.

  • Commenting on the physical appearance of others, whether comments are well-intentioned or not.

  • Acting in any way that could be perceived as intimidating or hostile, such as using aggressive postures, glaring, or speaking in a threatening manner.

  • Sharing pornographic or explicitly violent content.
